Covenant of Music Ministry

I, ____________________________________, pledge to serve as a member of the music ministry of for a period of one year, beginning, [date].  During this time, I pledge that I will

Ø   attend weekly scheduled rehearsals.  If I cannot be present for a rehearsal, I will notify ** (music coordinator).  (Unless special arrangement has been made, I understand that I will not participate in leading prayer at a weekend liturgy unless I have attended the previous rehearsal).

Ø   be present and ready at least 30 minutes before a liturgy is due to begin, in order to prepare my music, my instrument or my voice, and to allow me to have time for prayer before liturgy begins.  If circumstances prevent me from helping to lead prayer at a weekend liturgy, I will notify [*name of music coordinator or director] as soon as possible.

Ø   plan to read and pray over the readings during the week before a weekend liturgy.  If asked, I will help to lead my ensemble or team through one or more of the readings and in prayer at the rehearsal before the weekend liturgy.

Ø   attend (along with the other ministers of  [*name of community]) scheduled ministry evenings and workshops intended to help me in my formation as an effective leader of the community’s prayer.

Ø   support and encourage, in word and action, the ministers with whom I serve, and the community to which I belong.

The community of  [*name of community] pledges to you that we will

Ø   support and encourage you in your ministry, with our prayers and the necessary material and financial backing necessary for your effective planning and preparation.

Ø   provide support and encouragement in your spiritual and technical formation, through study opportunities and resources, both those sponsored by the parish and those opportunities available outside the parish.
